Frequently Asked Questions

Can we choose our own music?

As far as a first dance for a wedding goes, this is a song that means something very special to you, so we ask only you to specify this. It's really good if you have two dances to start the evening off with, I'll let you into a secret as far as this technique is concerned, obviously the first dance is traditionally the bride and groom's dance, the second dance, presents the opportunity to invite all of your guests to join you for the 2nd dance, then the general idea is that the guests then stay on the dance floor as we kick of the evening function.

Another good tip when you send out your invitations, be sure to include a request form, asking your guests, when they reply to it, to include three of their favourite songs that they will dance to. Once you have received all the song choices back from the invites, you can edit them and come up with a fantastic list that your guests have already told us that they'll dance to them.

Your song requests are not just limited to wedding receptions, every function we do we will allow you to compile a list of songs that you would like us to play at your function. Simply ask for a requests sheet when making a booking.

Will you let us down?

Every occasion that I am booked for is confirmed with a contract.  It is basically written confirmation of our verbal agreement that I agree to turn up and provide a mobile disco and you agree to pay me the quoted fee at the end of the night. Should an extreme case occur where we cannot attend your function because of matters beyond our control, we will source you another disco of the same high standard and supply them with all the information collected from you. To date this has NEVER happened and we are certain it never will.  It’s a safeguard we have in place.

Are you the Dj for the function?

Yes! We would never even dream about selling ourselves as we do then put another disco in to represent us. We have a 100% reliability record and reputation that has taken a long time to build. The last thing we would want to do is wreck this by providing you with a different disco!  Under no circumstances would we ever use another Dj..........EVER!!!!

Are you able to supply background music?

We will play whatever kind of background music you would like, whether it’s classic soul, light jazz or various up beat popular music. Most of the time our wedding clients will choose to book the full day option with Dj to provide this service for you. We will also supply you with a radio microphone system for speeches if required.

What will you wear?

We will usually turn up to your function wearing casual clothing with the company logo on to set up the shows. During the summer we will wear shorts as you can get pretty hot carrying heavy equipment into venues. Once our show is set-up and in place, we will change into attire that is suitable for your occasion. We have a full black tie outfit available if requested, or black shirts with our company logo embroidered on the front. We always make sure that we are presentable for your function!

What are the different size shows are on offer?

Shows vary from a small mobile disco set-up for a restaurant or a larger road show type set-up for medium gigs, through to a mobile nightclub show that looks stunning in the larger venues. All our show sizes come with different price fee’s as we like to tailor to your requirements rather than have a set fee.

Is your equipment safe?

All of our equipment is tested annually and certified for electrical safety. The majority of venues we perform at now require our testing certificates before we even plug a single item into the wall. These forms can be provided direct to the venue by us prior to the booking date.

Do you have insurance?

We have £2 million public liability insurance.  With more and more 'no win, no fee' legal companies around, it is really important to check that your DJ and Disco has public liability insurance.  This provides insurance cover should a guest of yours be injured from our shows. To date we have a 100% safety record! The Dj also has also been on a first aid course and is qualified to provide first aid should a accident ever occur.

Will the disco be loud and ear piercing?

Generally, any disco will be loud, however, if at any point during the event, you feel that it is too loud or guests have complained, I won't be offended if during the night, you ask me to turn it down, nor, will I turn it back up again five minutes after you ask either! We only use high quality RCF sound equipment with professional speaker drivers. You should only experience the piercing sound disco’s that use cheaper speakers using piezo tweeters/budget high frequency drivers.

I've booked a band , can you work with them?

We have no problem working with any type of act that is booked to appear on the same event as me, more often than not we end sharing each others equipment to save on space, for example the band may use my lighting and I will plug into their speakers or vice versa.  We have worked with many bands in the past and have had no problems at all. We also ensure that we do not play any songs that the band plans to perform that night.

Are you available? How soon should we book?

I operate a very strict first come first served policy, this means that once I have accepted a booking for a specific date, the date in question is struck from my diary and nothing else will be taken on this day.  Once a booking has been accepted, a contract is drawn up confirming in writing our verbal agreement. It is an agreement for a DJ and disco to turn up on the day and at the times specified and provide a disco, and in return the booker agrees to provide a venue, safe electrical supply and function for the disco to perform at and pay an agreed fee for this service.

I’ve been quoted a cheaper price, can you match it?

We understand that there are other discos that will quote you a lower price than ours. All our fees are tailored to your event. We do have a few set fees but these generally cover wedding shows and corporate events. Our prices represent very good value for money. Does the other disco carry public liability insurance? Does the other disco have pat tested equipment? Does the disco set-up consist of true high quality sound and lighting? Does the disco have a good reliability record? Does the Dj have experience? Has the disco provide a contracted booking? Will the Dj come and visit you before your event if required? Strobe Disco Roadshow can say YES to all of the questions!
